Self Portrait Challenge: Blue Week 3

It will be a year next month since I quit being a teacher to make coffee and caramels. The making coffee part happens in a garage on a dirty alley at a little hot dog cart turned coffee kiosk run by Blue Bottle Coffee Company. We make the best coffee I have ever had at that little kiosk.

I work a lot. Some of the customers make me batty (seriously people, stop asking about "the $20,000 coffee machine" we're tired of talking about it and, while we're at it, talking on your cell phone while you order your coffee is really fucking rude). But it isn't a lie to say I love my little kiosk and most days I can't believe how incredibly lucky I am to work there.

This is a beautiful self portrait, and a great story.

seeing as how I will be in San Francisco at some point and you are a one-woman caramel factory (my favorite thing ever)... I must find out where this coffee kiosk is. I LOVE coffee with caramel!!!

you sound really happy.

I love this, and the story. People drive me insane sometimes too...but you wouldn't love your Kiosk so much if it weren't for that amazing connection you get- so wonderful! Thanks for sharing!

i so envy you for following your heart. i have been doing the same job for twenty three years and it has become so soul sucking. if i had done what you have done years ago this would be easier but health insurance and retirement have me committed to seeing this through even though i know that the pensions can be so temporary.
